About Me
My name is Anthony Thomas I have worked for Amani Community Service as a Prevention Specialist for the last 3 years. I hold a Master's in Counseling and School Administration. Outside of being a Prevention Specialist for Amani I am Assistant Principal for the Waterloo School District. I have served in the prevention field for youth and adults for 20 plus years in the Waterloo area.
What is prevention?
Primary prevention attempts to prevent a sexual assault from happening in the first place.
We aim at strategizing an approach to our youth in preventing a sexual assault from happening, through education.
What is sexual assault?
Sexual assault is an act in which a person intentionally sexually touches another person without that persons consent or coerces or physically forces a person to engage in a sexual act against their will.
What are some ways sexual assault can be prevented?
Here are some easy steps to follow…

· STOP blaming victims
· Always ask for consent
· Don’t pressure
· Be aware of gender roles
· Don’t make rape jokes
· Be the change you wish to see in society
