Internship Opportunities

Amani Community Services is always seeking Interns!

Interns would work alongside staff to gain experience working within victim services and diverse populations. All interns must complete Victim Counselor Training which is outlined in Iowa Criminal Code 915.20A, through the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault (IowaCASA) in order to conduct direct services.

Interns learn how to assist survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, respond to crisis situations, legal and court process, demonstrate ethical and professional behavior, and practice within micro, mezzo and macro levels.

*Must be a current student at a University, College, etc.

Volunteer Opportunities

Amani Community Services is always in need of community volunteers. We have two options available:

Indirect Services

Office Support: answering office phones, filing paperwork, shredding papers, putting together intake packets, etc.

Office Maintenance: cleaning and vacuuming offices, taking out trash, cleaning bathrooms, etc.

Website & Social Media

Grant Writing Assistance

Marketing: creating flyers and posters for events, etc.

Community Involvement: fundraising and hosting book drives, hair care and hygiene drives, etc.

Direct Services

Any direct contact with clients is considered direct service volunteer opportunities, which require training. You would assist with but not limited to: intakes with clients, facilitating support groups, crisis line operators, responding to hospital calls, providing community resources, advocacy work, etc.
