Lisa holds a BA in Human Services with over 15 years in the Human Services field; working in several settings. She began her career working with nonprofit agencies, the school system and individuals in the disability field. She eventually found her passion within the Domestic Violence / Sexual Assault field.

In her spare time, she loves to travel and spend time with her grandchildren.

Director of Services

LaToya is Amani Community Services Director of Services. She has been with Amani  for several years, starting as a Volunteer, then transitioning into a role as Victim's Advocate and now into Director of Services.

 

She is dedicated in  the growth of our services and committed to how we support our survivors and community.

John Retired from Waterloo Schools as a  Family Support Worker. He holds his BA  Elementary Education and MA  in Elementary Administration. John has worked as a BHIS Worker, Youth Shelter Counselor, and Site Manager of a BHIS company.'

John enjoyed his work as a supervisor of after school programs for at risk African American Elementary young men

Finance Manager

Chantel is Amani Community Services Finance Manager. Her love for accounting led her to obtain her B.B.A. in Finance from The University of Iowa.  Born and raised here in Waterloo, she is very happy to be a part of a company that gives back to our community.

Lakeba is a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocate at  Amani Community Services. As an advocate her goal is to increase client safety, choices, support and personal control.  Lakeba’s personal values are rooted in her relationship with God. This has aligned with  Amani's purpose of building a place of peace, love and understanding. Lakeba has credentials as a Licensed Esthetician with a focus in skin care and makeup artistry. As a mother to her seven year old son, she finds joy in caring for her spiritual, mental and physical well being with passion in the Arts

Victim Advocate

Carmen holds a Bachelor Science Degree in Human Service from Upper Iowa University.  Retired from the Department of Correctional Services after 31.5 years of service as a residential officer.  After being retired for  5 months,  Carmen pursued a  new career at Amani February 2023 as an advocate. Carmen comes with many years of experience facilitating domestic violence groups and assisting people with their needs.

 

Spare time includes spending time with family, exercising, reading & going to the movies.

Jalisa is a domestic violence and sexual assault advocate at Amani. She has remained steadfast in her quest to help be a part of the change society needs. Jalisa has her AA in Social Work Liberal Arts and is currently completing her last semester of her bachelors at the University of Northern Iowa where she is majoring in social work with minors in both mental health and family studies. She will be starting the MSW program in June of 2024. Once she has completed the MSW program she hopes to use her knowledge and experience to continue assisting individuals and families within her community.

Prevention Specialist

Anthony has worked for Amani Community Service as a Prevention Specialist for the last 4 years. He holds a Master's in Counseling and School Administration. Outside of being a Prevention Specialist for Amani he is an Assistant Principal for the Waterloo School District.

 

Anthony has served in the prevention field for youth and adults for 20 plus years in the Waterloo area.

Victim Advocate

Candace has been with Amani Community Services since May 2020 as our Victim Advocate. She earned her degrees within Business, Accounting and Interior Design where she is able to bring forth varied skills and align them with our agencies mission. 

In her spare time she enjoys designing, traveling and personal development. 

POLK COUNTY OFFICE

Jalea has an AA in Business Administration and has worked  as a sexual assault and domestic violence advocate for the past 10 years. Jalea's main goals is to break the stigma and shame surrounding sexual assault and DV by talking openly about these issues.

 

Apart from her professional role, Jalea is a devoted mother to her two sons. She understands the importance of family time and cherishes every moment she spends with them.

LaCretsia is Amani Community Services Victims Advocate supporting our Scott County office. She holds her Masters of Education in Counseling.
